    These Hon-Dashi granules are a BIG addition in flavor to miso soup. This soup stock imparts additional savory flavor to the soup and can even be used as a base in other soups as well.

    My recipe is usually:
    1. 4 cups water
    2. 1.5-2 tsp Hon-Dashi granules
    3. 2 Tbsp miso paste
    4. dried seaweed and/or tofu, as necessary

    I boil the water over the stove, add the dashi granules until dissolved fully, then add in the miso paste (breaking apart clumps). Finally, I add the tofu or seaweed.

    I strongly recommend Hon-Dashi as an addition to miso soups – the extra flavor is fantastic!

    when you don’t have the time to prepare kombu and bonito flakes, like for a quick bowl of miso breakfast soup, Hon-Dashi really takes just a few minutes to fix. throw in some of last nights noodles, a raw egg, and you are ready for work. It’s not quite as good as the real thing, but it sure helps for the quick fix.
